No Gay Marriage for George Bush
US President George W. Bush has again derided gay marriage, saying “I believe society’s best interests are met by defining marriage as between a man and a woman.” And to underline his point: “That’s what I believe.” His comments at the White House news conference were in response to a journalist pressing him on how society’s best interests could be served by the courts nullifying same-sex unions, as had been done to thousands of couples in San Francisco. The National Stonewall Democrats called Bush’s comments an “affirmation of marriage discrimination.” In contrast, “the Democratic Party supports extending equal rights and responsibilities to same-sex families,” said Eric Stern, the group’s president. A bill to amend the Constitution to ban same-sex unions is currently before Congress. 19 US states have already written similar amendments into their state constitutions and seven more have ballots on the issue forthcoming this year.

I have no idea what Utah is really like politically, but it rough in many states- we all need to support each other through this shitty presidency....

OK, well, in the other universe George W. Bush was s stand-up comedian who did a little too much cocaine and found freedom through self-stimulation with a TENS unit - he eventually moved to Paris where he fell in love and married a construction worker named Henri - they were the parents of the first DNA spliced baby.
Now, before you go discounting my discussion of parallel dimensions, and what happens there, just consider for a moment how bizarre it sounds to them when I start talking about what's going on here.

I suppose the country will survive, or it will quickly slide into a downward spiral with no more hope for this new empire than the Romans had.

Well, I suspect, if we Americans don't clean our own house it will eventually get so outrageous as to stink up the neighborhood. (Well, actually, it's already come to that, hasn't it?)
At that point, the neighbors will do what we American slobs don't have the nerve nor estómago to do--clean our house for us!
It's our choice. Police it from within or let someone do it from without. The latter will be far more messy, i.e., they may actually decide to tear down the house to clean it up. But hey, if we don't have the 'ganos' to pick up our own mess......
